Infrared cut-off filter (also known as infrared filter or heat absorbing filter) is a type of filter used to filter the infrared band. For example, when installed on incandescent devices such as slides and projectors, it can block unnecessary heat from burning the lens. When installed on solid-state electronic devices (CCD or CMOS) cameras, it can prevent infrared rays from passing through the camera lens and causing image distortion.
