We all know that optical quartz glass is a very good optical substrate material compared to ordinary optical glass. Its performance in all aspects is much better than other optical glasses, which also leads to the high price of optical filters produced using optical quartz glass. However, quartz glass also has its own advantages and disadvantages. The production method affects the characteristics of quartz glass, which are ultimately formed in its structure, and are more or less affected by the raw materials used, production methods, and process parameter monitoring. According to Brü ckner's classification, the four main types of quartz glass and their characteristics are related to their main production methods. However, in reality, there are many other production methods that are often used. Causing differences in the performance of glass.
So what are the representative advantages of quartz glass? National quartz glass is a special industrial technology glass made of silicon dioxide, which is a very excellent basic material. Quartz glass has a series of excellent physical and chemical properties, such as:
1. High temperature resistance
The softening point temperature of quartz glass is about 1730 ℃, and the relatively high operating temperature can reach 1450 ℃ in a short period of time, so it can be used for a long time at 1100 ℃.
2. Corrosion resistance
Quartz glass has less chemical reaction with other acidic substances (except hydrofluoric acid), and its acid resistance is 30 times that of ceramics and 150 times that of stainless steel. Especially its chemical stability at high temperatures is unparalleled by any other engineering material.
3. Good thermal stability
Due to its crystalline nature, quartz glass has a very small coefficient of thermal expansion and can withstand drastic temperature changes. When heated to around 1100 ℃ and placed in room temperature water, quartz glass will not burst.
4. Good transparency performance
Quartz glass has good transmittance in the entire spectral band from ultraviolet to infrared, with a transmittance of over 93% for visible light, especially in the ultraviolet spectral region, where higher transmittance can reach over 80%.
5. Good electrical insulation performance
Quartz glass is an excellent electrical insulation material, with a resistance 10000 times higher than ordinary glass, and has good electrical performance even at room temperature.
