Introduction to Infrared Organic Glass Filter
Infrared filters are mainly used in infrared communication products, security monitoring fields, night vision products, infrared receivers, infrared detectors, infrared sensing, etc. There are two types of materials for infrared filters, one is coated with optical glass, and the other is made of PC or PMMA materials, with a black appearance color. This type of infrared filter made of PC and PMMA material can effectively cut off visible light and transmit infrared light. The cut-off rate of visible light range is related to the transmittance of infrared light and its thickness. Its optical performance is stable. Compared with infrared filters made of optical glass coating materials, although the optical precision is slightly lower, the advantage is low cost and not easy to break.
Characteristics of organic glass used in infrared filters:
1. High transparency
At present, organic glass is a high-performance transparent polymer material with a light transmittance of 92%, which is higher than glass. The lamp known as artificial sun is made of quartz because quartz can completely penetrate ultraviolet light. Ordinary optical glass can only penetrate about 0.6% of ultraviolet light, while organic glass can penetrate 73%.
2. High mechanical strength
The relative molecular weight of organic glass is about 2 million, and it is a long-chain polymer compound with very flexible molecules that form chains. Therefore, the strength of organic glass is relatively high, and its tensile strength and impact resistance are more than 7 times that of ordinary glass. There is a type of organic glass that is heated and stretched. The ordered arrangement of organic glass molecular segments greatly improves the toughness of the material. Nail it onto this organic glass, even if the nail penetrates, there will be no cracks on the organic glass. This organic glass will not break after being shattered by bullets. Therefore, elastic organic glass can be used as bulletproof glass and aircraft cockpit covers.
3. Lightweight
The density of organic glass is 0; For materials of the same size, their weight is only half that of ordinary glass and 43% that of aluminum (which belongs to light metals).
4. Easy to process
Organic glass can not only be cut by lathes and drilling machines, but also used to bond various shapes of vessels together. It can also be molded into aircraft seat hatch covers through plastic molding methods such as blow molding, injection molding, extrusion, etc., such as dentures and other products.
