The correct cleaning method for the protective mirror of laser cutting machine
The lenses used in laser cutting machines are divided into many types, such as focusing lenses, protective lenses, etc. During their operation, they are inevitably contaminated, such as water pollution or dust pollution. Therefore, it is necessary to clean the laser lenses during daily maintenance to ensure the stability of the laser cutting machine. Of course, cleaning lenses is not like cleaning clear glasses lenses in our daily lives, and special attention needs to be paid. This article explains the correct cleaning method for laser lenses in laser cutting machines. The only purpose of cleaning lenses is to remove contaminants from the lenses and not to cause further contamination or damage to the lenses. To achieve this goal, people should often adopt methods with relatively low risks.
Tools and chemical raw materials:
1. Anhydrous acetone
2. Water free cloth cotton swab
3. High pressure gas
4. Adhesive tape
Method and steps:
Firstly, it is necessary to use an air ball to blow off the floating objects on the surface of the component, especially the lenses with small particles and dirt on the surface. But never use compressed air from the production line, as this air can contain oil and water droplets, which can deepen the pollution of the lenses.
Step 2: Apply acetone to lightly clean the lens. This grade of acetone is almost anhydrous, which reduces the possibility of lens contamination. Cotton balls dipped in acetone must be cleaned under light and moved in a circular motion. Once the cotton swab gets dirty, it needs to be replaced. Cleaning should be completed in one go to avoid the formation of ripples. (If a lens has two coated surfaces, such as a lens, each surface needs to be cleaned in this way. The first surface needs to be placed on a clean layer of lens paper for protection.)
If acetone cannot remove all the dirt, then use vinegar to clean. Sour vinegar cleaning is achieved by dissolving dirt to remove it, but it does not cause damage to optical lenses. This vinegar can be of experimental grade (diluted to 50% strength), or white vinegar with 6% acetic acid for household use. The cleaning procedure is the same as acetone cleaning, and then acetone is used to remove vinegar and dry the lenses. At this time, it is necessary to frequently change the cotton ball to completely absorb the acid and hydrates.
Notes
(Note: Only pure paper swabs with swabs can be used. Only high-quality medical cotton balls that have been selected and do not contain any abrasives can be used.) Of course, certain pollutants and lens damage cannot be removed by cleaning, especially film burns caused by metal splashes and dirt. The only way to restore good performance is to replace the lens. The correct installation method can cause contamination of the lens during the installation process if the method is incorrect. Therefore, the operating procedures mentioned earlier must be followed. If a large number of lenses need to be installed and disassembled, it is necessary to design a fixture to complete the task. A specialized fixture can reduce the frequency of contact with the lens, thereby reducing the risk of lens contamination or damage. Additionally, if the lens is not installed correctly, the laser system will not function properly and may even be damaged. All carbon dioxide laser lenses should be installed in a certain direction. So the user should confirm the correct orientation of the lens. Reflectors are the third commonly used type of lens, and their installation is also crucial. Of course, it is easy to distinguish the reflective surface of a mirror. It is obvious that the coated side is facing the laser. Generally speaking, manufacturers will mark the edges to help identify the surface. Usually, this symbol is an arrow, with the arrow pointing towards one side. Every lens manufacturer has a system for marking lenses. Generally speaking, for mirrors and output mirrors, the arrow points towards the high reverse side. For lenses, the arrow points towards the concave or flat surface. Sometimes, lens labels can remind of the meaning of the markings. When the lens is cleaned and operated correctly, its service life and performance will undoubtedly be significantly improved, which is also one of the important ways to improve the service life and stability of laser cutting machines. Taking some preventive and maintenance measures will ensure that the laser cutting machine works longer and has higher stability.
