Examples of Laser Crystal Applications
Laser crystal material is a type of crystal material that converts the energy provided by the external environment into highly parallel monochromatic laser material, and converts it into highly parallel monochromatic laser material in space and time. It is the working substance of a crystal laser, and the laser crystal rod is composed of a luminescent center and a matrix crystal. The majority of the luminescent centers in laser crystals are active ions, which partially replace cations in the matrix crystal to form doped laser crystals. When the active ions become a part of the matrix crystal, a self activated laser crystal is formed.
Practical application of laser crystals:
1、 High average power density laser rod (crystal rod)
At present, the main lasers used in industrial processing are CO2 lasers and Nd: YAG lasers. Due to the use of high-power semiconductor lasers as pump sources, a multi rod series combination system was adopted in the structure, and new structural systems such as flat plate lasers and barrel lasers were developed, enabling the output power of Nd: YAG lasers to reach a high average power density of kilowatts.
2、 Tunable laser rod (crystal rod)
Due to the susceptibility of transition metal ion d/d transitions to lattice fields, tunable laser crystals enable the laser wavelength to be tunable within a certain range.
3、 New wavelength laser rod (crystal rod)
Mid infrared crystals with wavelengths of 2-3um, such as er1.5y1.5al5o12 (2.94um), have a water absorption coefficient of 1 (only 10-4 to 1.06um) and have been widely used in medicine.
4、 Laser crystals for small lasers and semiconductor lasers
Semiconductor superlattices and quantum well materials are important applications of semiconductor quantum well lasers (QWLD) in optoelectronic technology. QWLD has been widely used due to its high efficiency (60%), small size, reliability, and honesty.
