Metal film reflector
Metal reflectors are widely used in scientific research experiments, national defense applications, daily life, and other applications. Below, we will introduce several categories of commonly used metal reflectors:
Aluminum coated reflector:
This type of reflector has a high reflectivity of over 90% from the ultraviolet band to the infrared band. Compared with other metal materials, the optical thin film is relatively stable. Due to the surface layer of the aluminum plated film being coated with aluminum, a layer of aluminum oxide film can be generated in the atmosphere. MGF and LIF are used as protective layers in the ultraviolet band, and SiO2 or aluminum oxide materials are used in the visible and infrared bands.
Silver plated reflector:
This type of reflector has a high reflectivity of over 90% from the ultraviolet band to the infrared band. Compared with other metal materials, the optical thin film is relatively stable. Silver plated mirrors have a relatively high reflectivity of over 95% in the visible and infrared bands. When the mirror is tilted, the polarization effect of the mirror is minimal. The adhesion between the facial mask layer of the silver coated mirror and the optical glass substrate is poor, so it is easy to receive the influence of sulfide, and its service life is short.
Gold plated reflector:
Gold plated reflector:
The reflectivity of gold-plated mirrors in the infrared band is as high as 95%. The adhesion of the gold-plated film layer is poor. Using chromium film as the substrate improves the adhesion of the film layer. The strength and stability of the gold-plated mirror surface are better than those of the silver plated mirror surface. However, when there are stains, the gold-plated mirror cannot be cleaned.
