Colored glass filters utilize the intrinsic absorption of colored ions in colored optical glass to affect the spectrum, resulting in different colors. It can accurately select the small range of light waves that it wants to pass through, while absorbing other unwanted bands. Also known as optical filter glass, it is mainly used to make filters for observation, photography, infrared and other instruments to improve instrument visibility or meet certain special requirements. It can also be used to make colored glasses.

According to the different types of coloring agents, they can be divided into three major categories
1. Ionic coloring selective absorption glass
Colorants present an ionic state in glass, so it is called ion selective absorption glass. Ionic colorants usually use metal oxides, which account for the largest proportion and variety of colored glasses.

The characteristic of this type of glass is that it absorbs more in one wavelength band and transmits more in another wavelength band throughout the entire spectral domain. Its spectral curve has obvious valleys and peaks, hence it is called selective absorption glass. Including ultraviolet transparent glass (ZWB), purple glass (Zb), blue glass (Qb), green glass (LB), infrared glass (HWB), protective glass (FB), and ultraviolet white glass (BB).

2. Selenium cadmium colored glass
Cadmium selenide and cadmium sulfide are coloring agents for this type of colored glass. Because the coloring agent in glass is colloidal, also known as colloidal colored glass.

The characteristic of self focusing glass is that it has a wide high transmittance area and a high absorption area, with a transition zone between the two. In addition, the change in spectral transmittance is also exceptionally rapid. The narrower the transition zone, the better the cutoff performance of the glass.

Selenford glass includes red (HB), gold (JB), and orange (CB).

3. Neutral glass
Neutral glass is also ion colored glass. Its characteristic is that it can uniformly reduce the light intensity of the light source in the visible light region without changing the spectral composition of the light source. The grades of neutral glass are AB1, AB2, AB3, AB4, AB5 up to AB10. This type of glass is mainly used as a neutral filter, absorbent, etc.

Application of colored glass:
Widely used in laser protection, industrial measurement, and environmental measurement instruments. Color filters are also used in CCD/CMOS digital imaging systems, such as mobile phone cameras, digital cameras, digital cameras, computer cameras, etc mesh、 Security monitoring cameras, video phones, and video doorbells.
